Candiru (Vandellia cirrhosa)

The Candiru or Vandellia Cirrhosa is one of the smallest, yet one of the most dangerous fish on the planet. They are found exclusively in South America mostly in the Amazon River. Candiru fish are nasty parasitic creatures. They have an almost translucent body that makes them very hard to spot. When another fish or creature gets too close this fish will attach itself to its prey and suck out their blood! Watch the video below for more information on how they accomplish this.

The Candiru is considered dangerous to humans. It has a tendency to swim into any and all orifices that it can find. Watch out this fish's rear pointed spines can accidental attack you if you are urinating underwater. Most unpleasant... This fish is also know as the Canero, Toothpick fish, and the Vampire Catfish.
