Northern Pike (Esox Lucius)

Know for it's sharp teeth the Northern Pike or Esox Lucius is found in many freshwater locations around the world including North America, Russia and Europe. These fish can grow up to 5 feet long and weigh up to 70lbs! They are one of the largest freshwater fish in the entire world. The Pike feeds on fish, frogs, leaches, insects and even ducklings. They are a very popular sporting fish because of their massive size and good fight! Most anglers use casting or trolling to catch these monsters, but in the wintertime tip-ups with live bait work very well too.
